I am once again amazed by not only this devotional, but even more so by God's word!
I am leading you along a way that is uniquely right for you. The closer to Me you grow, the more fully you become your true self-the one I designed you to be. Because you are one of a kind, the path you are traveling with Me diverges increasingly from that of other people. However, in my mysterious wisdom and ways, I enable you to follow this solitary path while staying in close contact with others. In fact, the more completely you devote yourself to Me, the more freely you can love people. Marvel at the beauty of a life intertwined with My Presence. Rejoice as we journey together in intimate communion. Enjoy the adventure of finding yourself through losing yourself in Me.
2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone sis in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become knew.
What amazed me about this verse, is just this morning as I was waking up, God brought to mind long ago forgotten sin, and how He spared me condemnation even back before I gave my life to him....
Ephesians 2: 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
How amazing is this? Yesterday, after my meeting with TCOE, I was reminded of being a little girl....Raggedy Ann and Andy bedroom - yellow curtains and bedspread...stuffed animals lined up on one bed, because it was school time! Of course I was the teacher.... When I was 4 years old, God knew that when I was 44, He had a HUGE job for me, and has been preparing me for this all along! He alone knew the path I would take...quite a zigzagging one to get to this place, but HE prepared it. Thank you Lord!

Trust
I am coming to realize that I don't really trust... A couple of weeks ago, my young friend Desiree asked if my childhood affected the relationships I have today. The question caused me to pause for a bit... Did it? I love my parents with all of my heart, they were good parents. My dad has always been my hero...And I know that my mom did the best she could. But I am realizing that having loved many and having lost them, has affected me in two ways. The first is my tenacity to hold on. This is a good thing, and a bad thing. I've often held on to relationships for far longer than was healthy for me. On the positive side though, I've stuck through some situations that I don't know I would have been able to endure. The last semester working for VUSD would have been impossible if not for my ability to stick with it.
When I came home, I shared Desiree's question with my husband. His take was different than mine, but no less true. He said that he thinks it's made me more willing to go into battle mode rather quickly. (Funny that was yesterday's devotion) My interpretation of this is that I am slower to trust, to warm up to people. I hold back and watch life and relationships. Today, I'm wondering, do I do that with Jesus too? Do I really trust that my Savior loves me with an unending love, and wants the best for me? I want to believe it. I kind of believe it. But do I deep down believe it? I'm not sure. I guess in order to be sure, or to know that I know that I know....I need to spend more time in His word.
Today's reading says that modern man has lost the perspective of eternity. To distract himself from the gaping jaws of death,he engages in ceaseless activity and amusement. The practice of being still in My presence is almost a lost art, yet it is this very stillness that enables you to experience My eternal love.
Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt, O virgin Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful."
18 So I say, “My splendor is gone
and all that I had hoped from the Lord.”
19 I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
20 I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast within me.
21 Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,

I don't have to fix everything
Jesus Calling has been such a great devotional! Today's topic is on problems - there will be problems in the world, but it isn't my job to fix all of them. There are problems in my life - as soon as something happens that wasn't in my plan....finances - house - job - charter - I immediately try to fix it. So often that ends up in an even bigger mess.... Why can't I be more like Mary?

God's timing is always perfect

Today’s devotional is incredible. Just what I need! Thank you LORD!
Sit quietly with me, letting all your fears and worries bubble up to the surface of your consciousness. There, in the Light of My Presence, the bubbles pop and disappear. However, some fears surface over and over again, especially fear of the future. You tend to project yourself mentally into the next day, week, month, year, decade; and you visualize yourself coping badly in those times. What you are seeing is a false image, because it doesn’t include Me. Those gloomy times that you imagine will not come to pass, since My Presence will be with you at all times.
When a future – oriented worry assails you, capture it and disarm it by suffusing the Light of My Presence into that mental image. Say to yourself, “jesus will be with me then and there. With His help, I can cope!” then come home to the present moment, where you can enjoy peace in My presence. (from Jesus Calling)
I so look forward to reading this devotional. God is using it to speak to my day… The two scriptures that were following it were for ME – on this day!
Deuteronomy 31:6 & 1 Cor 10:5
Deuteronomy 31 is when Joshua succeeds Moses – God tells him (6) Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you. (8) The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
1 Corinthians 10:5 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Why is this to incredible to read this morning? Because we are having our “open” hearing today with the board at VUSD. I have no idea what questions they will ask of us. But God’s word says it doesn’t matter. HE is going before you and will be with us. They may approve us – GREAT! Even if they do, God will never leave us nor forsake us. I will not be afraid or discouraged if they approve us. They may not approve us! GREAT! If they don’t, I will not be afraid or discouraged, because we will then go before Tulare County Office of Education, but before we go, He will go before us!

Jesus Calling 10-21-2010
I LOVE love love this devotional!
Isn't it funny how sometimes devotionals take you to the word of God, and you get scared? Is it a prophecy? Will I be going through more hard times? Well, not sure about the prophecy part, but yes, I will go through more hard times, because that's just how life is.
Today's devotional encourages me to live in God's presence consistently. Because self gets in the way, sometimes that's a difficult thing to do. The author suggests that we become aware of each resentment (of interferences with our plans or desires).
Psalm 139:23-24 Tells us to do the same thing -
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Our response to our rebellious tendencies to submission is to humble ourselves to God...
1 Peter 5:6
5 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
God prepares us in so many ways for upcoming trials and tribulations. I didn't quite get that until last November. Things weren't that great at work, I was at an expulsion hearing, and God spoke to me... I gave you the job, only I can take it away.... That comforted me a lot, until February, when He took it away...only to replace it with an incredible opportunity to work on starting a charter school. I don't have any idea where He's leading, but I do know I need to work on trusting Him with all of my heart...

“Naked I came from my mother's womb,
and naked I will depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised.”

A Day Late...
Yesterday's devotional was just as good!
How much do I trust God? It's easier to just type it out, from the book, "Jesus Calling" October 10
Trust Me enough to let things happen without striving to predict or control them. Relax and refresh yourself in the Light of My everlasting Love. My Love-Light never dims, yet you are often unaware of My radiant Presence. when you project yourself into the future, rehearsing what you will do or say, you are seeking to be self-sufficient: to be adequate without My help. this is a subtle sin - so common that is usually slips by unnoticed.
The alternative is to live fully in the present, depending on Me each moment. Rather than fearing your inadequacy, rejoice in My abundant supply. Train your mind to seek My help continually, even when you feel competent to handle something by yourself. Don't divide your life into things you can do by yourself and things that require My help. Instead, learn to rely on me in every situation. This discipline will enable you to enjoy life more and to face each day confidently.
This really goes hand in hand with Crazy Love - I am ordinary and inadequate, but God uses ordinary inadequate people to do His will. How blessed I am, to be chosen to go through the trials I've endured in the last 14-16 months. Not only am I blessed, but God is using each and every situation to His Glory! Not all prayers have been answered, in this moment of time, however I know that God has answered ALL of my prayers....
Psalm 37:1-6
1 Do not fret because of evil men
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Philippians 4:19 (ESV) - "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

Jesus Calling
This is from my devotional - well actually it's Craig's, his mom gave it to him, but I stole it. :)
"Jesus Calling", by Sarah Young
October 7
In order to hear my voice, you must release all your worries into My care. Entrust in Me everything that concerns you. This clears the way for you to seek My face unhindered. Let Me free you from fear that is hiding deep inside you. Sit quietly in My presence, allowing My light to soak into you and drive out any darkness lodged within you.
Accept each day just as it comes to you, remembering that I am sovereign over your life. Rejoice in this day that I have made, trusting that I am abundantly present in it. Instead of regretting or resenting the way things are, thank Me in all circumstances. Trust Me and don't be fearful; thank Me and rest in My sovereignty.
1 Peter 5:(5)6-7
Younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. (8) Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (9) But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by our brethren who are in the world. (10) After you have suffered for a little while, the God of grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
God is speaking - I guess He always does when I'm still enough to listen. Sunday's sermon was on being blessed (I am in so many ways), broken (the last year at VCIS, along with so many other life issues definitely broke me) and then being multiplied... Is there where I am now? The charter was turned in on Tuesday. I don't know where God is leading me, if it's a permanent position with Valley Life Charter Schools, or elsewhere. All I know is HE IS leading me....

1 Thes 5:18 -21 Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit's fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good.
Heavenly Father, Thank you for all you have blessed me with. Thank you for my husband, my family, the work you gave my hands to do. Father if it's your will we move, then I pray that you move mountains. Jesus, draw me close to you - closer than I ever thought possible.

Day: 4, Calories: 1850, P90X Yoga X
 Log Entry | Daily Note: Today was tiring. My run was great but it wore me out. I was only able to do 25 minutes of the yoga. Kind of surprised me Looking forward to a short run tomorrow along with legs back and abs. Ouch I'm feeling pretty good ,sore but good. Hopefully the scale or tape shows some progress in the morning. |
 Nutrition | 1850 Calories My other page says I get 1300 calories a day. Earned over 700 working out but ate 1847. I'm 200 under for the day. Feel really good about fuel today. |

The God that created the universe, also created me. Not only did He create me, He desires to have a relationship with me. When ever I've gone through a time of solitude, no dating, no significant other, no husband, I have felt a desire to have that type of intimate relationship with someone. It's how those of us known as people are created - to be loved and to love..... That same innate desire that is with in me - that longing....is the same desire God has for us. I am nothing but a speck, and God STILL has that desire to have fellowship with me.

When ever I've gone through a time of solitude, no dating, no significant other, no husband, I have felt a desire to have that type of intimate relationship with someone. It's how those of us known as people are created - to be loved and to love..... That same innate desire that is with in me - that longing....is the same desire God has for us. I am nothing but a speck, and God STILL has that desire to have fellowship with me.

A new look
I hope to keep this up to date, although those that know me, know it might be a challenge.
So much has gone on in the last year, but God is faithful! I have a wonderful new job, developing a Charter School. I am in awe and humbled that God would give me this opportunity! I am also amazed as I see things come together. People come out of the wood work - wanting to be a part of what God is doing!

Covenant Week 4 Day 5
I am so humbled at times by what Jesus is doing in my life. Even today in my study, I again read Phil 1:27 - 30
Philippians 1:27-30 (New International Version)
27Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel 28without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, 30since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.
I marked this in my bible on 10/12/08 I wrote, "This has both political and professional implications - elections, and JR". I wrote that, 1 year and 4 months before I lost my job due to JR.
I thank God for giving me the Spirit to make it through the last year at VCIS. I also know, by reading the Word that NOTHING happens to us, that He doesn't know about, allow and give us strength for.

28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny[a]? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
God has a plan.
The final question in today's study was this:
If you knew that suffering went with believing on Jesus Christ (Phil 1:29), would you still want to enter into the new covenant? Why?
YES YES YES..... I would not want to suffer without Him!

Romans 12
What an incredible piece of scripture! If everyone, regardless of how they believed was to live this way - we would have a great city!
Romans 12
Living Sacrifices
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his[b]faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
Love

"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;

John the Baptist Prepares the Way
1In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea 2and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." 3This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
"A voice of one calling in the desert,
'Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.'

John 19
Jesus Sentenced to be Crucified
1Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. 2The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe 3and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face.
4Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews, "Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him." 5When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, "Here is the man!"
6As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, "Crucify! Crucify!"
But Pilate answered, "You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him."
7The Jews insisted, "We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God."
8When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, 9and he went back inside the palace. "Where do you come from?" he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer. 10"Do you refuse to speak to me?" Pilate said. "Don't you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?"
11Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."
12From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shouting, "If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar."
13When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge's seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). 14It was the day of Preparation of Passover Week, about the sixth hour.
"Here is your king," Pilate said to the Jews.
15But they shouted, "Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!"
"Shall I crucify your king?" Pilate asked.
"We have no king but Caesar," the chief priests answered.
16Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.
The Crucifixion
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18Here they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
19Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read:|sc JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 20Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, "Do not write 'The King of the Jews,' but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews."
22Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written."
23When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.
24"Let's not tear it," they said to one another. "Let's decide by lot who will get it."
This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said,
"They divided my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing."[a] So this is what the soldiers did.
25Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," 27and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.
The Death of Jesus
28Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." 29A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. 30When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. 33But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. 35The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken,"[b] 37and, as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they have pierced."[c]
The Burial of Jesus
38Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews. With Pilate's permission, he came and took the body away. 39He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.[d] 40Taking Jesus' body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs. 41At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.
